Long Story Short ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- according to Mary According to Mary, the wise one, people who sport the yellow Lance Armstrong bracelet are courting death in a major way. She heard on the news (THE NEWS!) that at some hospitals the yellow armband means "do not resuscitate". Apparently an unnamed gentleman was wearing one of these yellow bracelets when he was sent to the hospital and it had turned itself inside out so that the writing on the outside wasn't apparent. And he was KILLED (or at least not resuscitated). Mary told this story to a friend of mine who happened to be sporting just such a yellow bracelet. He had come in to fill out new beneficiary forms because his wife just gave birth to a new little girl, his second child. And she lays into him about how he's putting his family at risk by wearing it. Luckily he cracked up laughing at her, which was my chosen response as well, but what goes through her mind when she reports these things? I hope tonight is as fun as last night. Based on our goodbye this morning I think it will be. And there's always The L Word if things aren't going magically. Right now I'm going to sit back and enjoy my 24-year-old brokeness, and my unmarriedness and my childlessness.
